Parc de la Ciutadella is the oldest and the biggest and so the most famous park in Barcelona. Parc de la Ciutadella is located in Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain. Parc de la Ciutadella includes a zoo, a lake, a large fountain and several museums, and the park had been established in 1877. Parc de la Ciutadella is full of historical interest because because it previously had used as a military fortress. Some oldest buildings are there, one of them is The Catalan Parliament. The Catalan Parliament is seated at a building in the center of the park.

The Citadel
The Citadel built in order to keep firm control over Barcelona, under the leadership King Philips V during the war of the Spanish Succession, after Barcelona fell to the army of Philips V .
The Cascada
The other building is the Cascada. Cascada located at the northern corner of the park. Cascada is a triumphal arch with waterfall and fountain built for the 1888 Universal exhibition. The baroque construction designed by Josep Fontsère - who was responsible for the conversion of the citadel site into a park - and it spent for six years to complete. The design has been inspirated to Trevi Fontain in Rome. In 2010, Cascada has been renovated so it looks incredible, especially at night. There are big statue shaped Mammoth near by cascada, it made by sculptor Miquel Dalman.

Umbraculum
Another old building is "Umbraculum" or Umbracle, a greenhouse that serves to protect tropical plants inside. Due to being renovated, this building is only open to special moment.

Zoo
The 30ha (74acre) large park is also home to the Parc Zoologic, the Barcelona Zoo. About 7.500 animals representing 400 different species can be found here in the zoo, which occupies about 13 hectare of the park. Some of the zoo's most famous animals include gorillas, orang-utans, dolphins, cheetas, wolves, snow leopards, crocodiles and alligators. The zoo's former star attraction, an albino gorilla known as Snow Flake, died in 2004.

The Lake
Inside the park there is a lake where visitors can rent a boat and pedaled over the lake. Green parakeet chirping is fullfilling the natural sense inside the park.

The Three Dragon Castle or El Castell dels Tres Dragon
It was built to resemble a medieval castle and served as a restaurant during the 1888 exhibition. It currently houses the zoological and geology collections of the Museu de Ciències Naturals (Natural Science Museum).

There are some statue such as the statue of General Joan Prim was riding a horse. No less interesting is the statue El Desconsol "Grief" was built in 1903 above the circular pool in front of The Catalan Parliament by artist Josep Llimona.
