Islamic Art Museum is a fascinating architecture of buildings and located in Doha, Qatar. Islamic Art Museum in Qatar first opened in December 2008 with a collection of Islamic artifacts . Most of Islamic Art Museum in Qatar's collection comes from the ancient and historical elements. Although the Islamic Art Museum built with Islamic design, but actually the building was designed by Chinese American architect Leoh Min Pei, who was also designer of the Louvre in Pyramid and one of the most celebrated architects in the world today. Pei, in his project, firstly he traveled throughout the Muslim world on a six month to learn about Muslim architecture and history and read Muslim texts to get inspiration for his design, and in designing the Museum I. M. Pei get an inspiration from Islamic buildings such as Ibn Tulun's mosque in Egypt and the Al Hambra Palace in Spain.
Islamic Art Museum designed by Pei, is become an imposing white museum, and consist of a blend of modern and traditional styles, and designed so that the cubic shapes of the museum, which descend from the dome in changing geometric patterns, will interplay with the sun and the shadows.
Collection of Islamic Art Museum such as metal work, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork and glass collected from three continents , there are also 600 year old artifacts of ivory and silk inscribed with Islamic and Arabic inscriptions. The most important collection here is such as the ancient Qur'an that thought to have been compiled just a few years after Mohammed's death., and Christian Calligraphy, and the book of secrets.
