Olympic Mountains is a mountain range on the Olympic Peninsula, situated in western Washington in the United States. Olympic Mountains is a part of the Pacific Coast Ranges,the highest peak of Olympic Mountains is Mount Olympus , it rise on 7,962 ft (2,427 m) . Actually, Olympic Mountains are situated inside of the Olympic National Park. Olympic Mountains area reach 5,536 sq mi / 14,337 sq km where the area may include lowland areas.

Olympic Mountains contens several summits. The principal summits of Olympic Mountains are :
1.Mount Olympus which highest point, eight glaciers
2.Mount Constance which largest peak visible from Seattle
3. Mount Anderson which the West Peak of Mt Anderson is the hydrographic apex of the Olympic Mountains: From this peak, rivers flow outward to the Pacific Ocean, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and Hood Canal.
4. The Brothers , it is double peak visible from Seattle
5. Mount Deception
6. Mount Angeles

The main fact of the Olympic mountains its justifiably famous precipitation, in many places well over 200 inches per year. Down low the nearly continuous rain supports lush temprate rain forests that blanket the western and southern slopes of the mountains, and up higher the massive amounts of snowfall create the large glaciers and snowfields that give the Olympics their awesome alpine character.

The Olympics mountains forms are a cluster of steep-sided peaks surrounded by heavily-forested foothills and incised by deep valleys. Because of its high, Olympic Mountains are so popular for the large number of snowfields and glaciers, reaching down to 1,500 m (5,000 ft) above sea level. There are about 266 glaciers crowning the Olympics peaks. The most prominent glaciers are those on Mount Olympus covering approximately 10 square miles (26 km2). Beyond the Olympic complex are the glaciers of Mount Carrie, the Bailey Range, Mount Christie, and Mount Anderson.

Olympics mountains have many name. The mountains were originally called "Sun-a-do" by the Duwamish Indians, while the first European to see them. The Spanish navigator Juan Perez, named them "Sierra Nevada de Santa Rosalia". The English captain John Meares, seeing them in 1788, thought them beautiful enough for the gods to dwell there, and named them "Mount Olympus" after the one in Greece.

If you don't like being fogbound and miserably wet when visited the Olympic mountains, mind that although winter, it may be sometimes mean solid months without sun, there are often week-long stretches during the summer when hot, humid weather and clear blue skies settle in. During these times the Olympic mountains are a delight, through the views of the Pacific Ocean, the strait of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound, Vancouver Island, and the Cascade Range are devastating. Also, the northeastern areas of the Olympic Peninsula are among the driest in the Pacific Northwest, because the main bulk of the Olympics create a rain shadow.
