Guoliang tunnel is one of the most dangerous road in the world. Guoliang Tunnel is carved along the side of and through a mountain in China, it is situated on Taihang Mountains which are located in the Hunan Province of China. Guoliang is also known as Guoliangcun. In Chinese, "cun" means "Village", i.e. Guoliangcun is the Village of Guoliang. Formerly, access to the nearby Guoliang village was limited to a difficult path carved into the mountainside, that is before the Guoliang tunnel was constructed, because Guoliang village is nestled in a valley surrounded by towering mountains cut off from civilization.

Guoliang tunnel in the Taihang mountains was built by 13 local villagers headed by their chief, Shen Mingxin, and spent five years to finish it. Many villagers lost dead in accidents during construction of the Guoliang tunnel but the others continued relentlessly. The Guoliang tunnel was opened to traffic on May 1st, 1977.

Guoliang tunnel dubbed as the road that does not tolerate any mistakes, most accidents in the tunnel are primarily caused by the neglect of the traveller. Nonetheless, it is an extremely scenic route and is a key destination on the Chinese tourism map.

Guoliang Tunnel is pretty freaky with the windows more than 30 "windows" of different sizes and shapes. Some windows are round and some are square, and they range from dozens of metres long to standard-window-size.

The road is not as deadly as Bolivian Yungas Road but is spooky enough to look down from the windows, where strange rocks hanging above the cliff and a seemingly bottomless pit lying below. A village, opposite the tunnel, appears to hang on the precipice. The tunnel is 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mil) in lenght, 5 metres (16 ft) high and 4 metres (13 ft) wide.
